<image:caption>Why Does Lower Back and Sacrum Pain Occur? Lower back and sacrum pain are common issues that affect many individuals, whether due to pregnancy, poor posture, injury, or chronic conditions. The sacrum, located at the base of the spine, plays a vital role in stability and movement, and any dysfunction in this area can lead to discomfort and restricted mobility..</image:caption>

<image:title>Education - Hip Pain During Pregnancy - Common Causes of Hip Pain in Pregnancy Relaxin Hormone: This pregnancy hormone loosens ligaments in the pelvis to prepare for childbirth, which can lead to instability and discomfort in the hips. Postural Changes: As the belly grows, the body shifts its center of gravity, placing extra pressure on the hips and lower back. Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP): Also known as symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), this condition causes pain and discomfort due to excessive movement or misalignment in the pelvic joints. Sciatic Nerve Compression: The expanding uterus can put pressure on the sciatic nerve, leading to hip pain that radiates down the leg. Muscle Imbalances: Tight or weak muscles in the lower back, glutes, or thighs can contribute to hip discomfort and difficulty moving.</image:title>
<image:caption>Understanding the Pelvic Girdle The pelvic girdle is a ring of bones that connects the spine to the lower limbs, providing support and stability. During pregnancy, the pelvic girdle undergoes significant changes due to hormonal and mechanical factors. The increased flexibility in the pelvic joints, combined with postural shifts, can cause discomfort or dysfunction, particularly in the sacroiliac (SI) joints and pubic symphysis. When the pelvic girdle becomes unstable, it can lead to Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP), which may cause discomfort in the lower back, hips, groin, and thighs.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How Osteopathy Can Help Relieve Hip Pain During Pregnancy Osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on restoring balance and movement in the body. Osteopathic treatment during pregnancy is safe and can provide relief by addressing the root causes of hip and other bodily pain. Osteopathic Techniques for Pregnancy Hip Pain Relief Pelvic Alignment: Gentle adjustments help restore balance and stability in the pelvis, reducing pain and discomfort. Soft Tissue Release: Targeted techniques ease muscle tension in the hips, ribs, lower back, and glutes to improve mobility. Postural Support: Addressing posture changes and teaching proper body mechanics can help minimise strain on the hips. Circulation & Lymphatic Drainage: Techniques that promote blood flow and reduce swelling can ease pressure in the lower body. Breathing & Relaxation Techniques: Osteopaths may also provide guidance on breathing exercises to reduce tension and promote relaxation.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Common Causes of TMJ Pain TMJ pain can stem from a variety of factors, including: Teeth Grinding (Bruxism): Clenching or grinding your teeth, often during sleep, places excessive stress on the jaw joint. Stress and Tension: Emotional stress can cause unconscious jaw clenching, leading to muscle fatigue and pain. Poor Posture: Slouching or forward head posture can create imbalances in the jaw and neck, increasing strain on the TMJ. Injury or Trauma: Direct impact to the jaw, such as whiplash or sports injuries, can result in misalignment and tension. Dental Issues: Misaligned teeth, bite problems, or frequent dental work can contribute to jaw dysfunction.</image:caption>

<image:title>Education - Understanding TMJ and How Osteopathy Can Help with Jaw Pain - Osteopathic Techniques for TMJ Relief Jaw Mobilisation: Gentle manual adjustments can help restore normal movement and reduce restrictions in the TMJ. Soft Tissue Release: Targeting tight muscles in the jaw, face, neck, and shoulders helps relieve tension and improve function. Postural Corrections: Addressing poor posture and spinal alignment can alleviate strain on the jaw and surrounding muscles. Cranial Osteopathy: Subtle techniques applied to the head and skull can help reduce stress and encourage relaxation in the jaw. Lifestyle & Stress Management Advice: Your therapist may recommend stress-reducing techniques, such as mindfulness or jaw relaxation exercises, to prevent recurring tension.</image:title>

<image:caption>WHAT IS MY INJURY? The Patella is the small (sesamoid) bone at the front of your knee- more commonly known as the Knee Cap. Most commonly the patella will dislocate and move to the lateral aspect of your leg unless there is a rupture of either the quadriceps or patellar tendon.</image:caption>

<image:title>Education - Knee - Patellar Dislocation</image:title>
<image:caption>INITIAL TREATMENT? Before treatment, irrespective if the patella is naturally relocated or if it requires relocation at a hospital, imaging is encouraged/ required. There can be multiple factors involving a dislocation & making sure there is no structural damage to bone or surrounding ligaments will best benefit patient rehabilitation outcomes. Initially elevation and rest advised to assist with immobilization for early healing. It is encouraged to begin to walk again within the first 1-2 weeks depending on the severity of the injury. The use of crutches or a brace to mitigate unwanted excessive movement in the early days post injury. Once there is minimal to no pain, you can then begin to explore gaining range of motion back in the knee, feeling comfortable with this? Walk on your own!</image:caption>
